The event which took place on the 27th May 2016 was indeed a colorful and remarkable one with over 70 children and 33 adolescents in attendance.
Before the games commenced, the children were taken on light exercises by the sports instructor Mr. Edafe Hitler who later enlightened them on ways to keep their environment clean and personal Hygiene. After that there were rooms for questions, the OVCs (Orphans and Vulnerable Children) all participated in this session with keen interest as many of them were eager to learn.
Thereafter a singing and dancing competition followed and various kids participate in various groups and winners from each group was given a present as a sign of encouragement.
The OVCs were then separated into various groups for a spelling game and the winners were also reward accordingly.
Other activities that were carried out that include, race competition among the children, sack race, volley ball match, soccer match, ludo game, skipping rope and lots more. The kids all enjoyed their selves.
While all this was going on the adolescents were not left behind, Miss Nkechi Onwuenyi gathered them and discussed on HIV/AIDS, she talked about the various ways a person can get infected and preventive measures to be taken by every in other not to get infected. After that session she proceeded to condom demonstration and did free HIV/AIDS testing for all the Adolescents who were around.
The OVCs were all excited as everyone benefited from the program and are all eagerly looking forward to next year event.
