Riverine Communities Health & Development Organization (RIVCHO) is one of the NGOs engaged by the WORLD BANK/EU funded “State Employment and Expenditure for Result” Project (SEEFOR). The project has its focus on the provision of employment opportunities for youths and is piloted in four states of the Niger Delta which are: Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers State with a grant of from the World Bank and the European Union. The project which was approved on the 6th of March, 2012 has a life span of 5 years. Key area of the project is road maintenance which involves sweeping of roads, cutting of grasses/vegetation control and refuse collection and disposal.
The project which commenced in January 2014 in Udu, Uvwie, Sapele & Warri South LGAs among others in the State has NGO duties to include creating awareness of SEEFOR Project planned intervention in the area of small public works as a tool for job creation. Thus the NGOs will register unskilled youths interested in being employed in small public works activities as well as create a data base of all intending workers registered aggregated into gender (male/female). Engaged NGOs shall monitor the quality of services and help in strengthening citizens voice and community empowerment during the project.
