RIVCHO trains Community members of Health Facility Management Committees

The year 2013 began with RIVCHO commencing the training of Community members of Health Facility Management Committees in fifteen Communities spread across Delta, Edo and Bayelsa States on the importance of the Committees to which they belong, their roles and responsibilities, modalities for holding successful meetings, relationship with the local Primary Health Care Centre, organizing community health outreaches, accessing funding from corporate bodies and multilateral agencies, the benefits of selfless service, preventive medi-care etc
The training which was held in four locations (two in the riverine areas and two in the upland) was attended by well over one hundred participants. Resources persons included Medical Personnel, Development practionners and management experts. RIVCHONEWS interviewed some of the participants who were glad for the knowledge they received. Many spoke of the fact that been in health committee was different from other community service as it is not a forum for self enrichment or clamor for community politics, rumor mongering, agitation/crisis. Others spoke of gaining knowledge in the area been in an instrument in providing better health care for their people.
