As a major part of her in-house capacity building efforts, RIVCHO engaged SELF-HELP NETWORK INTERNATIONAL INITIATIVE (the NGO that successfully midwifed the SPDC Nembe Cluster now Nembe City Development Foundation) to train RIVCHO Staff on the GMOU process. SHNII is currently mentoring the Bomo Central Cluster. The training which held from 7 to 8 October 2011 had the Executives of SHNII including its Executive Director Engr Dio Wenapere and others who have been a part of the implementation of GMOU in SHNII facilitating.

Topics covered include Pre-entry community data collection, Sustainable Livelihood Assesement (SLA) methodologies and report writing, Operating principles and good practices,  Structure and Functions of Community Trusts and Community Development Boards, Administrative Infrastructures of Community Trusts and Community Development Boards, Project planning and Implementation Process, Administrative Policies and Procedures for implementing the GMOU, Financial Policies and Procedures for Community Trusts and Community Development Boards, Contracting and Procurement Procedures, Communication for Development, Business Plans and workplans for Clusters, Roles and responsibilities of Mentoring NGOs, NGO Cordination and mentoring of Cluster Activities, Code of Conduct for NGOs, Monthly reporting etc Practical sessions included those on Project ranking and the “NGO Reference Guide: Operating Policies and Procedures Guide (OPPG) for Community Trusts and Community Development Boards responsible for GMOU Implementation”

Participants aplauded the training content and the down-to-earth style of the facilitators. RIVCHONEWS hopes that the knowledge gained will soon be put to use on the field effectively.
