BOAT DRIVERS HIV PREVENTION OUTREACH

RIVCHO encounters Boat drivers weekly during the execution of her projects. And it is no secret that their lifestyles are like those of long distance road drivers. This makes them vulnerable to HIV as patronizers of ‘Most at Risk Persons’ (MARPS). RIVCHO staff are reaching out to these persons with Minimum Prevention Package in the following Watersides/Jetties in Delta State Miller, Bomadi and Okwagbe in the first year.
The intervention includes Interpersonal Communication, IEC, Counseling & testing as well as referral services. This project is self sponsored by management and staff of RIVCHO with a goal of reaching 500 boat Drivers with behavioral, structural and bio-medical services before the year comes to an end.
